A medical device labeled Speedboat UltraSlim, a spyderblade electrosurgical instrument with a yellow handle, is connected to a thin blue cable and a clear tube, shown on a white background.

The Project

Speedboat is Creo’s current flagship device, available on the NHS for use by medical professionals. It is a multipurpose ablation and resection tool for use through an endoscope that uses microwave and RF energy to effectively perform advanced procedures.

Design

UW worked with microwave and RF engineers to push the limits of what is possible for antenna design at this scale. Fully functional prototypes were produced in-house, leveraging the precision of our 5 axis CNC to produce microscopic stainless steel components.

A person highlights details on technical sketches with a green marker, surrounded by pens and hand-drawn engineering diagrams of the SpyderBlade electrosurgical instrument on a desk.

They are responsive and extremely skilled industrial designers. They have a very positive outlook and will go above and beyond to deliver on a project.
